PETER KIVETT FAMILY ASSOCIATION, INC.

"The Peter Kivett Family Association, Inc. The PKFA, Inc. organization is dedicated to genealogical education, training, collecting historical family data, preserving family heritages and restoring abandoned cemeteries as a public interest charitable service for local communities for members and nonmembers alike. Considerable research will be done on the early pioneers of colonial North Carolina that arrived in the mid 1700s for documenting, teaching, publication and sharing with the public. The exempt purposes set forth in IRS Section 501(c)(3) for the PKFA, Inc. include the advancement of education, erection and maintenance of public monuments; lessening the burdens of government; lessening of neighborhood tensions by teaching citizens about their family history including DNA testing for lineage identification; and combating community deterioration of abandoned cemeteries especially by juvenile delinquency with corrective cleanup, beautification and fencing as funds become available. The PKFA Board of Directors is dedicated to proving citizens of all ages the resources and training with the necessary genealogical skills based on National Genealogical Society and Board of Certified Genealogists professional standards to accomplish this. Our primary mission goals are:

1.  To increase interest in and raise the standard of genealogical research and compilation by means of educational programs, open discussion forums, workshops, exchanges, lectures, historic field trips, E-mails, website and publication of genealogical data.

2.  To encourage and instruct members and non-members alike in the art and practice of genealogical research and compilation, with computer and online Internet skills with on hands training.

3.  To locate, cleanup, digitally document, register, beautify, maintain and preserve abandoned colonial cemeteries as a public interest service and historic site with public access.

4.  To photograph, record, restore or replace tombstones especially from the colonial period in abandoned and rural church cemeteries as a public interest service.

5.  To acquaint members and non-members with sources of genealogical material in Randolph County, North Carolina and elsewhere including knowledge of state/national archives, patriotic or military societies (DAR, SAR, CSA, Huguenots, etc), historical and genealogical Internet Websites.

6.  To promote the collection, restoration, digital preservation, charting geographic locations with GPS instrumentation and use of deeds, artifacts, manuscripts, family photographs, letters, documents and other materials of genealogical and historical value to record and document.

7.  To conduct educational training on several historic field and training workshop trips each year throughout the North and South Carolina and the United States for the purpose of increasing new capabilities and skills consistent with the PKFA, Inc. Article II bylaws.

In the event that the association shall ever be dissolved, any assets or deeds derived from the operation of the association shall be distributed to an educational institution or other nonprofit organizations such as a North Carolina County Genealogical or Historical Society that shall meet the same 501 (c) (3) qualifications under the Federal or State of North Carolina laws.
